If you’ve ever looked around your home and noticed that a majority of what you own is all from the same handful of stores, then read on, because this post is for you.
While I’m a big fan of the usual suspects—Target, West Elm, IKEA—there comes a time when you’re ready to see something else (and support the smaller artisans and retailers out there). Here, I’ve rounded up nine of my own “secret” shopping sources that aren’t secrets at all… just not the most talked about places to buy home decor.
Society6 ($)
If you love the style of Urban Outfitters, then you’ll love Society6 as it would appear they have a similar target clientele (cool, young, offbeat). You’ll find everything from tapestries to wall clocks to bedding, all with nearly infinite designs to choose from.
Parachute Home ($$-$$$)
VINTAGEKILIM ($$)
It’s nearly impossible to hand-select top sellers on Etsy, but I can say that if you’re into vintage Turkish rugs (and would rather not empty your savings account to get one) VINTAGEKILIM is a must to check out. Based in Turkey, they offer a large array of items (currently over 500 at the time of publishing) with incredibly fair prices.
Snowe ($$)
Online home decor brand popped onto the scene back in 2015, offering simple yet luxury-quality items. I was first introduced to their bedding, but quickly discovered their wide catalog of really awesome basics (particularly their dining products).
The Citizenry ($$)
An online-only destination for global, handcrafted goods, The Citizenry works directly with artisans to source their wares. Textiles are the real star here, but other accent pieces like storage ladders are also wonderful.
Gretel ($-$$)
Abby Kellett, a British interior stylist based in Shanghai, China, started Gretel in Miami, Florida, in 2009 to share some of her favorite home accessories sourced from around the world. You’ll find a tight selection of sharp, modern and playful decor (I’m particularly smitten with the tabletop selection).
Homies ($$)
I discovered Homies last summer when doing a pillow styling photoshoot and I needed a specific look (you know it, that California cool, laid-back but worldly vibe). Their stock sells out fast, so if you see a cactus silk throw pillow or pom-pom throw, grab it!
Pom Pom at Home ($$-$$$)
A favorite pillow source for Emily Henderson, it’s easy to see why the designer-blogger loves the store. It has a really easy breezy aesthetic to it that only subtly nods to trends. My favorite products though have got to be their pillows and throws.
In the Pursuit ($$-$$$$)
Sure, In the Pursuit sells furniture pieces upwards of $10,000 (which, of course isn’t the most attainable price point for the average renter or homeowner), but don’t discount them just yet. If you’re looking for fun and funky art and small home decor pieces like hand-painted leather coasters or marbleized trays, you’ll want to add ItP to your shopping bookmarks.
